When you are searching for a unique first-home or an affordable neighborhood in the City of Long Beach you should consider Wrigley Heights.  Wrigley Heights is a densely urban community within the City of Long Beach that has a mix of single-family residential, multi-family apartments, commercial, and retail.  One interesting fact that is unusual in an urban community is that there are still seven horse properties (albeit small) located within Wrigley Heights.  This affordable neighborhood offers stability, charm, convenient location and abundant community resources for the savvy buyer.  Wrigley Heights is bordered to the west by the Los Angeles River, to the north by the 405 Freeway, to the east by Long Beach Blvd., and to the south by Pacific Coast Highway (aka "PCH").  

Wrigley Heights is bordered by the 710 Freeway to the west and the 405 Freeway to the north.  This makes it convenient and timely if you need to commute to Los Angeles, Orange County or other coastal communities.  Also, Wrigley Heights has two Metro Blue Line stations - Wardlow Station (corner of Pacific and Wardlow) and Willow Station (corner of Willow and Long Beach Blvd.).  The Metro Blue Line provides rail service from Long Beach to Los Angeles and surrounding cities.  Long Beach Transit operates bus service throughout Wrigley Heights.  Public transit is readily available throughout Wrigley Heights making it convenient and strategically located within Long Beach.  Access to convenient transportation is one factor that contributes to the stability of the area and insures that home values will remain stable even in difficult real estate markets.

The Wrigley area derives its name from William Wrigley, the owner and founder of the Wrigley Spearmint Gum empire in Chicago.  Wrigley Heights was one of the first established communities in Long Beach.  The original subdivision pattern was established in 1905.  Wrigley Heights consists of approximately two thousand single-family homes.  The majority of the single-family homes were built between the 1920s - 1950s.  There are a few architectual styles found in this community including but not limited to Spanish, California Bungalows, Post-War tract, modified tract homes, Cape Cods and Ranches.  The lot and home size varies significantly based upon the style of the home and its location.  Homes range in size from 500 square feet to over 3,300 square feet.  The predominant home size will vary between 1,100 square feet and 1,700 square feet.  You can find homes with 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom; and homes with as many as 6+ bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.  Although this constitutes the full range of bedroom and bathroom available; most of the homes in Wrigley Heights are either 2 or 3 bedrooms with either 1 or 2 bathrooms.
