Poly High Area is an urban city area that is conveniently located to downtown Long Beach and all City services, transportation, entertainment, neighborhood retail and commercial as well as the beach areas.  This area is either a short walk, bus ride, drive or metro link from all the "hot spots" within the City of Long Beach.  The Poly High Area is bordered on the north by the 405 Freeway and to the south by Anaheim Street, to the west by Long Beach Blvd., and to the east by Signal Hill and Cherry Avenue.  There are a couple thousand single-family homes in the Poly High Area, along with a significant number of multi-family apartments and other highly dense residential residences.  The area is centered around providing "affordable living" for its residences.  The single-family homes range between one and five bedrooms, and between one and four bathrooms (although the typical configuration for the area is between two and three bedrooms, and between one and two bathrooms).  The square footage of the homes will vary between 500 sq.ft and less than 3,000 square feet (typically you the living space ranging between 800 and 1,500 square feet.  The lot size will range between 1,200 and 7,500 square feet.  Most of the single-family homes were built in the 1920s.

You will find a few different residential architectural styles including Cape Cod, Bungalows, and tract homes along with many other home styles to fit your individual tastes. Over the past few years significant redevelopment has occurred in certain sections of the Area to insure "affordable living" is available to all its residents.  You will find single story homes mixed with two-story homes.  A Spanish Revival Bungalow style home next to a 1920s tract home.  What ever your Southern California urban style taste is you probably can find it in the Poly High Area. 

As a resident of the Poly High Area your children will most likely attend Long Beach Unified Schools.  If you want to know what Long Beach Unified School ("LBUSD") your child will be attending from your new address just click on the following school finder.  As the area suggests the predominant school in the community carries its name - Long Beach Poly High School.  Poly High School has a deep tradition of producing "scholar athletes" (in 2005 Sports Illustrated voted Poly High School as the #1 Best High School Athletic Program in the United States); however, this under-estimates the quality of educational experience at Poly.  Just as significant is its music and arts program (music program is nationally recognized as one of the finest in the country).  Prominently located as well in the Poly High Area is the campus of Long Beach City College (downtown campus), and just a short drive away is California State Long Beach University ("CSULB"). CSULB is a campus of approximately 35,000 students and is one of the finest public universities in the United States. CSULB has a rich academic, athletic and entertainment tradition for national excellence.  Cultural activities and entertainment are within walking distance or a short drive away with its proximity to regional parks, club facilities, Long Beach City College and California State University.
