When people think of the New Bixby area they believe it is a part of Bixby Knoll.  However, New

Bixby is just north of Bixby Knoll within the City of Long Beach.  New Bixby is located between Atlantic (to the west) and Cherry (to the east), north of Carson and south of San Antonio.  This area consists of larger lots with slightly larger floor plans.  Lot sizes vary between 5,000 - 10,000 sq.ft.; while a majority of the homes exceed 1,700 sq.ft. of living space.  The homes were built post-WWII and have gone through extensive modification throughout the years.  With a total of approximately 390 homes in New Bixby, this area is ideal for families and "move-up" buyers interested in a smaller quiet neighborhood.

The local park closest to New Bixby is Bixby Knolls Park - located on the north side of San Antonio Drive between Orange and California Avenue.  A perfect place to play soccer, basketball, baseball, play on the swings or just enjoy a barbeque picnic with the family. In addition, Somerset Park is located on south side Carson Street between Orange and Cherry Avenue. The Long Beach Parks & Recreation Department sponsor regular events at Somerset and other local area parks. A few miles away at Los Cerritos Park the area neighborhood residents and guests are invited each week during the summer months to "Concerts in the Park."  Each month on Atlantic Avenue (just to the east) between Bixby Road and San Antonio the local businesses sponsor a "First Friday" evening. On First Fridays, the businesses stay open later and sponsor special events, speakers, book signings, concerts, plays and culinary treats for residents and guests. Also, two times a year (kick off the summer and winter seasons) the Bixby Knolls Improvement Association sponsors a large street fair. Fun, food, community and special events are the call of the day during these street fairs open to all.
