When you are searching for a unique first-home neighborhood in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach you will want to visit Country Club Manor. Country Club Manor is a mixed residential, commercial and mult-family neighborhood containing single family homes, office buildings, retail and multi-family apartments. As you drive into this area from San Antonio multi-family apartments (rows of 4 plex apartment buildings) line the wide streets. Once you drive past the apartments, the area shows its true character.
Country Club Manor is just west of Ridgewood Heights, east of Los Cerritos - Virginia Country Club and south of North Long Beach. Country Club Manor is bordered by San Antonio Drive on the south, Atlantic Avenue to the east, Long Beach Blvd. to the west and Del Amo Blvd. to the north. To the north the area is bordered by a large Long Beach Park - Scherer Park and a large Long Beach Police station.
The architectual styles in Country Club Manor are typically Post-War tract or modified tract homes. Most of the residences are single story raised foundation homes with two car garages. These raised foundation homes give you access under your home while improving the comfort under your feet. The size of the homes range between 800 square feet and over 3,000 square feet. You can find two, three, and a few four bedroom homes with primarily one and two bathrooms (however, there are a few three bathroom homes - original design modified over the years) in Country Club Manor. The Country Club Manor homes that back-up to Atlantic Avenue and Long Beach Blvd. have alley access to the backyards and garages. Most of the homes in Country Club Manor were originally built in the 1940s and 1950s. The primary residential (for single-family homes) streets are Linden, Pasadena, Whaley, Tolbert and Elm. These streets are tree-lined and the residents are festive around the holiday seasons. What makes Country Club Manor unique is how it is tucked behind Scherer Park and the commercial buildings that line Long Beach Blvd. and Atlantic Avenue. This affords the area privacy from the surrounding hussle and bustle of Bixby Knolls.

You can't consider Country Club Manor without being aware of the large number of apartments on the southern boundaries along Linden, Freeland Street and Elm Avenue. The apartment buildings in this area of Linden, Freeland and Elm are densely zoned and create a buffer into the area. These investment properties are 4-plex to eight unit apartment complexes bordering the commercial zones just north of Chateau Thierry.
