When you are searching for a quiet neighborhood in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach you will want to visit Bixby Highlands.  Bixby Highlands is a residential neighborhood containing single family homes and multi-family apartments.  Just north of Bixby Terrace, Bixby Highlands is bordered by San Antonio Drive on the north, Cherry Avenue to the east, Orange Avenue to the west and Carson Street to the south.  The homes in this area are primarily single story two, three and a few four bedroom homes with one to three bathrooms.  The typical architectural style in Bixby Highlands is a Post-War tract home, the area has experienced significant remodel and modernization over the years.  So it is not uncommon to find homes that have a second story or other room additions.  Most of the homes in the area were built in the 1940s and 1950s.  You will

find a range of home sizes in Bixby Highlands between 800 square feet to over 2,700 square feet.  Although the typical home size will range between 1,100 square feet and 1,800 square feet.  Lot size for these homes are typically over 6,000 square feet (not uncommon to have a lot that exceeds 7,200 square feet).  Plenty of room for your family to enjoy a backyard to entertain or enjoy some peace and quiet.  

 

The area contains several multi-family apartment buildings on San Antonio Drive, Goldfield Avenue, and Banner Drive.  These investment properties are four-plex and larger apartment complexes bordering the commercial zones of Bixby Highlands.  Bixby Highlands is a popular area for homes held for investment purposes with a "medium" risk for flip opportunities (where investors purchase homes make cosmetic improvements and resell the home immediately).  According to Fidelity Title this area is considered to have "stable market trends and consistent sales" that indicate normal market activity.

Local commercial and retail businesses line Carson Street, Orange, San Antonio Drive, and Cherry Avenue.  Bixby Highlands and the Bixby Knolls area contains a wide range of neighborhood businesses that provide retail, health care, educational, entertainment, social, and general commercial products and services.  So whether you need restaurants, food markets (Vons, Ralphs, Trader Joes), health care professionals, discount stores, local cleaners, fitness centers (L.A.
